Hunt on for masked gang who bashed man with shovel in violent home invasion

A manhunt is underway for four masked offenders who bashed a man in the head with a shovel during a violent home invasion in Western Australia.

There's still blood on the driveway, and a crack through the door where four men kicked their way inside a Yangebup home on Sunday night around 9.30pm.

The victim needed several staples in his head after the shocking attack.

The victim's housemate Shaun Dalton said the gang, who were after his car, had their faces covered so that only their eyes could be seen.

At the same time, the other two kicked in the front door and grabbed the keys to his car.

"They must have been hiding for a while and spotted where the keys were," Mr Dalton said.

The two housemates chased the men outside, but they were outnumbered.

The gang stole a black Holden Commodore with the registration number 1ENA 304.

The car was last seen driving past a booze bus in the city a short time after the home invasion, but it hasn't been spotted since.
