Perth man's duty free 'mistake' lands him in Bali jail

A Perth man is facing up to five years’ jail in Bali for allegedly stealing a pair of designer sunglasses.

Balinese Police allege Thomas Harman, who was due to fly home to Perth on July 30, stole a pair of Gucci sunglasses from a duty-free shop at Bali’s international airport.

The sunglasses are reportedly worth A$425.

The Australian man been in prison for more than two months since his arrest.

On Friday, Mr Harman’s lawyer told the court while his client didn’t deny taking the sunglasses he did it as an unconscious, nervous reaction before flying.

It’s understood if Mr Harman is found guilty he could be jailed for five years.
