'Don't touch the tuna': Baffling note to customers found in Coles

A person on work experience has left a baffling note for customers with a set of rules for buying tuna from Coles.

Shoppers at a Perth supermarket were a little perplexed when they spotted the note, composed by the "work experience visitor" governing the purchases of 80c tins of tuna.

The tuna regime was imposed, it appears, because the fledgling worker is not a big fan of cleaning up the "messy" canned fish.

"I'm a visitor on on work experience in coles (sic)," the note pinned to the tuna box on a shelf begins.

"I work in three day in four hour.

"The problem was I don't want to touch the tuna please.

"Because it messy but I clean up a bit.

"What I have the rule you shouldn't touch the tuna to follow the step.

"1 don't take another tuna you just take one out at a time when the box is empty you take one.

"2 you buy sauce salt and beans or cans it ok

"3 if you don't buy tuna then don't buy it please."

The image was posted to social media where the correct methods of acquiring the tuna were hotly debated.

Coles has not issued a statement on the note as yet.
