'You've no idea how close you are': Neighbour's threatening note to dog owners

A resident of a Perth suburb has left a chilling note for their next door neighbour, threatening to poison their dog if it doesn't stop barking.

The note, which was posted to RSPCA WA's website on Thursday, reads: "You have NO idea how close we are to baiting your dog".

It goes on: "You are the only people in the street to allow their dog to bark, let alone howl. It is a terrible noise.

"One more morning like today and we will poison it. If we don't do it, our neighbours will."

The shocking threat was left at a Seville Grove residence and follows a spate of animal poisonings in Western Australia.

"There have been five separate baiting incidents since early September," the RSPCA states on its website.

"One found [was] bleeding to death in its own backyard after ingesting deadly poison that was thrown over the garden fence."

Other baiting attacks, which have occurred in Dianella, Northam, Gosnells and East Victoria Park, have the RSPCA concerned.

Prosecution proceedings are already underway for a baiting case earlier this year, the RSPCA reports.

"Anyone who thinks they are justified in baiting an animal had better think again - it's a serious criminal offence," RSPCA WA chief inspector Amanda Swift said.

"Causing deliberate harm to an animal is not a solution.

"Even if the animal is the cause of the neighbourly dispute, it is not to blame and shouldn't be punished in such a vicious and cruel way.

"There are other ways to resolve problems and baiting should never be an option."
