Pet dog stabbed to death by stranger in Perth park

Police are hunting a man who stabbed a woman’s pet dog to death in front of her at a Perth public park overnight on Wednesday.

According to WA Police, the man crouched down and stabbed the animal after it bounded towards him in a park on Apple Blossom Drive at Mirrabooka at about 6.20pm.

There has been no suggestion as yet that the dog was being vicious or that the owner knew the man.

The labrador was dead by the time it’s owner reached a vet with a wound to its liver.

The killer reportedly walked away after the woman who owned the dog confronted him.

Police said the suspect was described as 180cm tall, skinny and in his mid forties with a light coloured beard.

He was said to have been wearing long dark pants and a long brown zip-up hoodie at the time of the attack.

He was walking a small, tan dog.

Police said no one else was in the park at the time but searches failed to find the suspect.

A resident told 7 News they could hear screaming and shouting in the park around the time of the killing.
