Canadian freed after terrorism charges dropped

Hassan Diab, a Lebanese-Canadian and former University of Ottawa professor, has been freed after terrorism charges against him were dropped by French authorities. Diab was suspected of taking part in a terrorist attack in Paris 38 years ago — he was arrested by RCMP in November 2008 and extradited to France in 2014. He has spent the last three years in prison after being charged with first-degree murder in a 1980 Paris synagogue bombing that killed four people. Diab denies any involvement.
