Victims launch petition as gang rapist walks free

A notorious gang rapist has refused to apologise to his victims after his release from jail.

The traumatised victims have now started a petition to get the gang of four brothers deported.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said he would like nothing more than to see them booted out of the country, but little can be done.

The man, known as MMK, was just 16 when he and his brothers committed their gang-raping spree within two years of emigrating from Pakistan.

In his early 30s now, the man had nothing to say when confronted by 7 News.

His victim, Tegan Wagner, and the mother of another victim, watched 7 News’ pictures of MMK’s flight to freedom and said they were “p***ed off” that he was able to leave prison.

The women have launched an online petition calling for the brothers, all dual citizens, to be deported.

A dual citizen’s Australian citizenship can be cancelled if it’s found they lied on their application, or if they have links to terrorism.

But if they commit a violent crime, they can stay.

“In my mind, they’re just as bad as terrorists,” Tegan said. “They terrorised me, they terrorised other women.”

The Immigration Minister said MMK was naturalised in 1998 by descent from his father, and the government is now trying to make it harder for people to prove they are worthy of citizenship.

“We’ve got laws that are stuck in the Senate now that the Labor Party and the Greens won’t support,” Mr Dutton said.

The women’s petition seeks tougher laws, where new Australians are placed on probation and their citizenship revoked if they commit an indictable, violent offence.
