Slain kangaroo tied to chair holding bottle of ouzo while draped in leopard print costume

A dead kangaroo with three bullet wounds has been found tied to a chair draped in a leopard print costume and holding a bottle of ouzo, in what has been described as an “appalling and immoral” act of animal cruelty.

The slain roo was found on a Melbourne roadside for shocked motorists to stumble upon.

Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning released the disturbing image of the animal perched up on Plenty Road in hope of finding those responsible for the depraved act.

“This is appalling and immoral behaviour. The kangaroo had been shot at least three times prior to it being arranged in the chair," DELWP Senior Investigator Mike Sverns said on Tuesday.

"It would have taken some time to stage the kangaroo in that position on the side of the road.

"We are certain that someone would have seen something, given the public area and traffic flow of this main road."

The penalties for killing wildlife range from $7500 to $36,500.
