Two teenage boys arrested following two home invasions in Melbourne's west

Two teenagers have been arrested this morning following two frightening home invasions in Melbourne's west in as many days.

The boys, a 17-year-old Taylors Hill boy and a 14-year-old South Yarra, are accused of smashing their way into home at Shoalhaven Drive, Caroline Springs, about 5.25am on Saturday, and stealing two cars.

The pair were arrested just after 4am at Airport West.

They will have also been questioned over an aggravated burglary at a home at Wellesley Drive in Taylors Lakes about 3.55am this morning, where vehicles were also stolen.

No one was physically injured during the break-ins..

Victoria Police has escalated its response to home invasions and carjackings across the state by allocating additional resources to prevent, deter and investigate these incidents, a police spokesperson said.

"Day and night patrols are being conducted at high risk locations to prevent offences taking place."

Seventy-five people have been arrested since Operation Cosmas began in May.
