Vapes seized in wake of Spice spiking concerns

Vapes and £20,000 in cash were seized by police in a series of raids.

The operation by Cleveland Police in Middlesbrough on Wednesday followed concerns about vapes laced with illegal drugs.

Families in the town and Redcar were told children were being targeted by sales of illegal vapes, some spiked with potentially deadly drugs like Spice.

Three men were charged with a number of drug offences.

Serious violence, GRIP & drugs chief inspector Nick See said potentially dangerous vapes had become a "serious concern" for the force over the last few months.

Police and public health officials have advised parents and carers about recognising the signs of illegal vapes .

A spokesman for Cleveland Police said a 19-year-old had been charged with the supply of class B drugs and possession of criminal property.

Another 19-year-old was charged with being concerned in the supply of a class B drug and a 20-year-old man was charged with possession with intent to supply a class B drug.
