Urgent recall for popular snacks sold at Woolworths, IGA

Popular snack products sold in Woolworths and IGA nationwide have been recalled over fears of listeria contamination.

Manassen Foods Australia Pty Ltd issued an urgent recall for two Good To Go snack varieties this week.

The snack products were sold at various stores in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.

"Food products contaminated with (listeria monocytogenes) may cause illness," a statement from Food Standards Australia read.

"Listeria monocytogenes may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly, and people with low immune systems."

Snack varieties recalled

There are two products being recalled. The first of the recalled product is the Good To Go Tasty Cheese & Mild Salami Bites 40g, with used-by dates of 21.12.21, 24.12.21 and 13.01.22.

The second is the Good To Go Tasty Cheese & Cabanossi 40g, with used-by dates 15.12.21 and 23.12.21.

Consumers are being advised not to consume the products.

"Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice," the recall notice read.

"Customers should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund."

What are the symptoms of listeria?

According to Better Health, listeria is an illness caused by eating foods contaminated by the bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria infection can be dangerous for pregnant women, the elderly and people whose immune systems are not working properly.

Symptoms of listeria include fever, headache, tiredness, aches and pain.
