Touching video shows soldier watching baby's birth on Facetime after flight delayed

A soldier has watched the birth of his daughter through his mobile phone after his flight to take him to his wife’s side was delayed.

Specialist Brooks Lindsey was seen sitting on the floor of Dallas Fort Worth Airport staring intently into his screen after his flight to Brandon, Mississippi, failed to take off on time.

Fellow passenger Tracy Dover shared a touching photo of Mr Lindsey to Facebook, sympathising over his far-from-ideal scenario.

“He had to watch the birth of his daughter on FaceTime. He was crying and our hearts were breaking,” she wrote.

“We all gave him space. When we heard the baby cry, we all rejoiced for him.”

Ms Dover said she wanted to share the image because she never wants people to “forget about our soldiers who serve us every day and the sacrifices they make.”

Mr Lindsey eventually made it to his wife, Hayley, and their newborn, Millie.

“She is perfect,” Mr Lindsey told USA Today.

His wife took the opportunity to thank people for the immense support on Ms Dover’s post, with Facebook users relating to the couple and their difficult circumstances.

She also shared footage of her husband to her Facebook she had obtained as he sat on the airport floor.

“It may have not went exactly how we planned, but it is absolutely perfect the way it is! Thank you Tracy Dover for sharing this moment with us and everyone!” she wrote online.

“I really hope it gives other military families hope for getting their loved ones home in an emergency or other life change.”

Mr Brooks has since returned to Fort Bliss, his Texas base, after a four-day stint with his daughter and now plans to deployment to Kuwait with the Army National Guard, USA Today reported.
