McWorker compensated 3000 pounds over legal flurry
A McDonald's worker who was fired for sprinkling too much chocolate on a friend's McFlurry has been handed £3,000 in compensation after taking on the fast-food giant.
Britain's Daily Mail website reports that Sarah Finch, 19, was sacked for gross misconduct after bosses accused her of giving away food after serving a workmate extra chocolate topping on the 99p ice-cream.
"But the restaurant chain paid furious Sarah more than £3,000 compensation in an out-of-court settlement today after she refused to accept her sacking," the Mail said.
She said: The matter was trivial, in that I provided a fellow employee, who was purchasing a dessert, a generous sprinkling of chocolate pieces.
"There is no standard for such measures - they are always imprecise and will vary among customers," the Mail reported Sarah Finch as saying.
"My colleague had asked me: 'Make it a nice one'.
"So the measure I gave erred on the side of more than, rather than less than, the mean."
Her mother, accountant Tessa Finch, said they had been told not to comment but added, "We had them firmly by the knackers and they had to pay up."
