He was driving a Ford Falcon sedan west along the Coalfields Road in Darkan about 5.45am when he lost control of his vehicle.

"The driver entered a road works area and it is believed he went on to the unsealed portion of the road where he lost control of the vehicle, leaving the road and colliding with some trees," WA Police said.

The vehicle rolled, coming to a rest on its roof.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle and he died at the scene as a result of injuries he received in the crash.

His next of kin has not been notified.
