Retired Fremantle utility Kepler Bradley is set to play for Claremont in 2015 after walking away from an agreement with West Perth.

The former Dockers fan favourite initially agreed to return to his former club for the upcoming season, taking up a job in the Falcons district.

However after funding for the job fell through, Bradley accepted a player welfare role from the Tigers.

Bradley started working at Claremont Showground this week, but has yet to be cleared to train or play with the Tigers after signing a contract with the Falcons in November.

Had he joined the Tigers immediately after retiring, the club would have paid a standard $20,000 to the Falcons.

As a contracted player, the Falcons are able to ask for much more for the 117-game AFL player.

West Perth president Brett Raponi said he was disappointed with the development, but said in a statement the club would work to ensure they received plenty in return for their 2003 premiership player.

"While this is clearly not ideal at this stage of the year, we are in a strong position to be adequately compensated," he said.

"We will ensure that our players, members and supporters are not short-changed in the negotiations with the Claremont Football Club."

Thewest.com.au understands a combination of money and players is being considered as part of a proposed deal.

Claremont chief executive Dean Horsington said he was hopeful both clubs could agree to a deal.

"For us this is all about setting Kepler up for a career," he said.

"I expect both clubs to work through it.

"Sometimes these things can be difficult, hopefully we can get it done sooner rather than later."
