West Coast say the latest scans on Jack Darling's injured foot have returned positive news. The star forward is now looking to increase his workload in pre-season training.

Darling, 22, wore a moon boot for six weeks before Christmas after suffering a stress fracture in the foot.

Darling has done little more than walk laps and complete handball drills at training sessions in recent weeks.

Eagles physiotherapist Paul Tucker said on the club's website that scans done last Friday had returned promising results.

"Jack Darling had some really good news from the scans and his visit with the specialist on Friday last week," Tucker said.

"We'd hope to see Jack now start to progress through his rehabilitation program."

Tucker said midfielder Mark Hutchings (groin) also had scans and would also increase his workload in the coming weeks.

Murray Newman (knee) and Xavier Ellis (AC joint) should also be cleared to join the main group soon.

"I suppose at the moment what we're seeing is some of our longer-term rehab guys making their way back into the main group," Tucker said.

"We've had a few minor setbacks over the last week or so where we may miss a few guys for a couple of sessions, but again our thought would be that by the start of next week we've got some really good numbers back at training with the main group."
