Juniors ban opens door for Prentice in feature

Top reinsman Gary Hall Jr has been suspended and Justin Prentice will replace him behind This Time Dylan in the Garrard's Horse & Hound BOTRA Cup (2902m) at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Hall, dominating the city drivers' premiership, copped a 16-day ban for causing interference when he drove runner-up Algranco Under Fire at Pinjarra on Monday.

"Itsa Seelster, who finished fourth, was severely checked by Algranco Under Fire in the final lap," chief steward Carl Coady said yesterday.

This Time Dylan has strong winning prospects despite a 30m handicap in the cup.

Hall Jr was expected to drive a string of support-event fancies from his father Gary Sr's Serpentine stable on Friday night.

The reinsman's older brother Clinton will rein some of them.

"Clinton will probably partner Crusader Banner, Heez Orl Black, Algranco Under Fire and Westernator," Hall Sr said. "Lauren Jones is booked for Nota- badexcuse and Kim Prentice is likely to be offered the drive behind The Ragpickers Dream.

"I have yet to finalise a few other driving engagements."

Hall Sr will also start Eliseos Falcon, Soho Highroller, Some Kinda Tactics and Shakatomic.

Last-start winners Erskine Range and In The Perfect Storm have drawn gates two and three in the 2130m Remote Foods Australia Schrader Series first heat. Jay Bees Grin, placed at his past two starts, will start from the back line.

In-form runners Hoylakes Firstlady, Diamonds A Blaze and Robyns C C have front-row draws in the Smithfields Fine Foods Mares Pace (2130m).

The consistent Ardens Southee has gate one in the Central Fruit Sales Pathway Series Pace (2130m) and gets his chance to break through for a win.
