Australian super-featherweight boxer Will Tomlinson's bid to make his mark in America has suffered a setback with a unanimous points loss in his first fight since moving to the US.

Tomlinson, who switched from Sydney to Los Angeles last year, lost over 10-rounds to Texan Jerry Belmontes at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Belmontes (now 19 wins, three losses) took a competitive fight 99-91, 98-92, 98-92 to inflict Tomlinson's first loss (21-1-1).
