A $10,000 donation to South West Women’s Refuge will improve the lives of many women and children living in Busselton, chief executive Julie-Anne Lorca says.

The donation from Busselton’s 2015 Festival Charity Queen Danica Baesjou on behalf of the Busselton Rotary Club, will go towards some of the refuge’s projects.

Ms Lorca said the money would enhance the work of the refuge.

“We were ecstatic to receive the money and it’s gratifying to have support from our community, ” she said.

“The women at the refuge are faced with a very distressing and difficult time.”

Ms Baesjou raised the $10,000 donation through raffles, quiz nights, sausage sizzles and a gala night.

She said she had chosen the charity after knowing people who personally used the service.

“It’s something I felt extremely passionate about,” she said.
