Crooked Colours at BREC Art Party

Touring regional towns is pretty high on the list of priorities for Perth band Crooked Colours when they choose where they want to spread their electronic sounds.

Singer Philip Slabber will team up with fellow band members Leon Debaughn on keyboard and Liam Merret-Park on drums for the first performance for 2015 at BREC's Out of the Box and Into the Cube.

The indie-electro trio will delight fans with their down tempo electronic music, inspired by other electronic artists such as The Presets.

Slabber said some of the recent gigs around Australia are definitely worthy of a mention in the band's portfolio.

"We've played at Groovin' the Moo, Laneway and finished off 2014 having played at New Year's in Sydney which was pretty special," Slabber said.

Crooked Colours also played to sold out audiences at Southbound this year, which Slabber describes as an amazing experience.

"It was the first festival I ever went to and was probably a big part of why we started playing," he said.

"It was just such a big influence on us and that was one of the festivals we have always wanted to play at and we finally got the chance."

Slabber said the trio want to travel to the US and Europe, but touring and writing new songs for an album, is a difficult mix.

Crooked Colours will be headlining at BREC's Out of the Box and Into the Cube on Friday night and are hoping to release a debut album later this year. Grrl Pal and DJ Sounds Legit will support Crooked Colours.
