Drug charges for pair
Two men have been charged with drug manufacturing offences after police uncovered an alleged drug manufacturing facility at a Singleton property on Thursday.
A 25-year-old man from Singleton and a 24-year-old man from no fixed address appeared in Rockingham Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning charged with two counts of manufacturing a prohibited drug and one count of attempting to manufacture a prohibited drug.
Both men have been remanded in custody until their next court appearance at Mandurah Magistrate’s Court on June 26.
The improvised site at a property on Penson Street in Singleton was uncovered by police on Thursday morning.
Det. Sen. Sgt Brad Royce said a number of chemicals had been found at the site and that the site was a sophisticated but not a big set-up.
‘‘Any improvised site where they’re using dangerous chemicals in suburbia is dangerous,’’ he said,
‘‘It doesn’t matter if its close to a school or a house, people are going to get hurt if something happens.
‘‘It’s a better organised site than most. These sites come in all sizes, but its more about what they produce rather than the size of the site.’’
