Indian fundraiser ahead of cycle ride
Charitable lovers of Indian food raised more than $1600 for a local woman cycling long-distance to raise money for cancer.
Jenny Knight held a three course Indian dinner last Saturday to collect donations for the Sunsuper Ride to Cure Cancer to be held in October.
Mrs Knight will cycle more than 200km from Perth to Mandurah and back in a bid to raise $5000 for the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research.
Mrs Knight was prompted to sign up for the challenge due to the prevalence of cancer cases in Kununurra.
Her dinner attracted 40 guests who were treated to catering by Indian chef Lawrence Emery, who also won the door-prize of a coffee table hand-crafted by Mrs Knight’s husband Bert.
With another fundraiser planned for the Kununurra Speedway this Saturday, she hoped East Kimberley residents would continue to support the fundraising.
