Recycled rubbish is fashion treasure for Goldfields

Organiser Eshe Christie, model Kharlee Graham and Gloria Moyle, of Goldfields Women’s Health Care Centre, launch the fashion show.

Recycled rubbish transformed into clothing looks set to be the latest fashion trend to sweep Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Creative minds of all ages are encouraged to create unique clothing out of recyclable items found around the house to enter into a recycled art fashion show fundraiser on June 21.

Organiser Eshe Christie said entries could be as quirky, crazy, subtle or sophisticated as designers wished.

"I know there are a lot of creative people in the community so I have no doubt there will be some quality entries," she said.

"People can use anything they like as long as the end product will be wearable and modest clothing.

"We have more than 30 models available, from children to adults, and designers will be able to pick a model in order to create the clothing to a certain style or measurement if necessary."

Individual or group entries are welcome.

Ms Christie is planning to seek involvement from schools and other groups around the city.

The fashion show will raise funds for the Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre.

A panel of judges will decide the winning pieces in categories including most economical, fashionable and creative.

Entries will open on Monday and forms must be completed and handed back to organisers, along with the $30 entry fee, by June 1.

For more information, or to receive an entry form, email Ms Christie at countryimagedevel opment@hotmail.com .

Forms will also be available from the women's health centre on Monday, April 14.
