Commonwealth Bank staff went blue yesterday in a bid to show support for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Local Commonwealth Bank branch manager Vanessa Walker said it was well known prostate cancer could have a devastating effect on Australian men, their families and the community.

Every year about 20,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, which affects the prostate gland in the male reproductive system.

"At the Kalgoorlie branch we are dedicated to supporting those individuals impacted by the disease," Ms Walker said.

"We hope our fundraising activities will encourage others to get behind this important cause."

The Commonwealth Bank is a longstanding partner to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

The Kalgoorlie-Boulder branch is one of many across the country holding a range of activities to raise funds for the Foundation in September.

September is International Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the foundation is encouraging Australians to register and host their own Big Aussie Barbie fundraiser.

Anyone can register to hold their own barbecue by visiting Big Aussie Barbie.
