Murder accused to plead not guilty

A man has indicated he will plead not guilty to the murder of Boulder businesswoman Veronica “Ronnie” Messina.

Paul Michael Banbery, 52, appeared in the Stirling Gardens Magistrate’s Court by video link from Hakea Prison yesterday and indicated he would plead not guilty to the murder of the 62-year-old.

He is accused of murdering his former housemate some time between June 25 and 26.

Police found Ms Messina’s body in dense bushland off the Goldfields Highway, about 10km north of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, in July.

Mr Banbery will face court again on March 27.
