No more fossicking for local firms
A directory of local retailers and attractions has been created by Fossick Handmade.
The free retail and tourism map, titled We Love KB, highlights most locally owned businesses specialising in arts and crafts, fashion and accessories, beauty and hair care, food and drink, events and attractions, and many speciality stores.
Released in September, the map has information, contact details and the location of 38 local businesses. Fossick Handmade co-owner Paula Fletcher said there were more than 10,000 maps in circulation and plenty more to hand out.
“We’ve seen a lot of local businesses shut and we’ve seen Hannan Street become more populated with chain stores rather than local boutiques where people really pour their love into the product and the service they’re offering and that’s what we wanted to champion,” she said.
“We just want to encourage people to get involved in the community rather than sit at home on a weekend, get out there and support our local businesses, particularly in the lead-up to Christmas.”
