Praise for city's Catholic schools

Perth Archbishop Tim Costelloe has praised the strength of Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s three Catholic schools, describing them as “extraordinary”.

He made the comments during his first-time visit to the gold city this week.

He also spoke about his future and the challenges of being in charge of the church in a wide-ranging interview with the Kalgoorlie Miner.

Asked for his insights into the community during his visit, Archbishop Costelloe said he was struck by the strength of the Catholic schools, John Paul College, St Mary’s Primary School and St Joseph’s Primary School in Boulder.

He said one of his main goals during his term as Archbishop was to promote Catholic education.

“The three of them are extraordinary schools, very fine schools and good Catholic schools,” he said. “So the church is alive and well from that point of view.”
