Five teenagers were injured in a crash early Saturday morning when the underage driver lost control of the vehicle they were in and struck a power pole.

The accident occurred near the corner of McAleer Dr and Fortyn Crt in Mahomets Flats.

It is alleged the 15-year-old driver and four female passengers were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.

Police have confirmed the front seat passenger was flown to Perth with serious injuries.

Police said that the driver and remaining passengers received medical treatment in Geraldton and have since been released.

The driver is assisting police with their investigation but no charges have been laid.

Police said the accident caused a power outage in the area.
