The 2014 racing season for the Carnarvon Motorcycle Club kicked off in spectacular style last Sunday.

A total of 57 riders raced for the first round points of the season with more than 20 riders travelling from Geraldton and Exmouth.

Numbers confirmed motocross racing is back and stronger than ever in Carnarvon.

The junior riders have been showing the strongest numbers for the Carnarvon Motorcycle Club.

It has been encouraging to see 20 or more bikes at the track on Fridays after school for practice.

Six Carnarvon Motorcycle Club junior riders also recently travelled to and raced around one of the Nor West Motocross Championships held in Paraburdoo.

Indy Radcliffe competed in the 50cc class, Declan Gibbings and Kaj Radcliffe in the 65cc class and Sam Gibbings, Riley Stephens and Mitch Carson all in the 85cc class.

Indy Radcliffe was the star of the day winning the 50cc class and also collecting the Paraburdoo Motorcycle Club President’s choice award for his outstanding racing over the weekend.

Kaj Radcliff and Declan Gibbings finished second and third respectively in the 65cc class.

Riley Stephens, Carnarvon Motorcycle Club’s newest junior rider, had a strong ride and finished second overall.

Sam Gibbings and Mitch Carson raced very consistently in the 85cc class that had 25 plus riders in the field.

The second round of the season will be held on May 11, with free entry and racing starting from 11am.
