Full of volunteer medical staff from around the world, the Mercy Ship provides free services to the poorest African countries. This in-depth documentary follows the staff and some patients while the floating hospital is docked in Guinea for a year. Hundreds line up, many with untreated deformities and massive facial tumours no longer seen in the Western world. While many receive life-changing surgery, not everyone can be helped. At times uplifting and other times heart-breaking, interviews with the surgeons give an insight to the emotional side of their heroic work.
