The crowdfunding campaign for Miranda and Khrob Edmonds’ follow-up to their award-winning short Tango Underpants is off to a great start, with West End and Broadway sensation Tim Minchin chipping in $1500 and Underpants star Emma Booth coughing up $1000.

The WA brother-and-sister filmmaking team have secured Perth-born US-based actress Trilby Glover, right, for their new short Library of Love, their musical rom-com about a romantic librarian who needs to take her nose out of the books to find true love.

Also on board for Library of Love are veteran Andrew McFarlane, whose long career reaches back to Homicide and Matlock Police, and Ben Mortley, who won a Logie as the resident Lothario in McLeod’s Daughters.

Library of Love is supported by Creative Partnerships Australia’s MATCH funding scheme, with the Federal Government matching every dollar raised by filmmakers through crowdfunding.

The generous donations from Minchin, above, and Booth have pushed the total past their $10,000 target after just three days. Now the Edmonds are looking to reach $15,000 to ensure a first-rate score, which is being done by Guy Gross of The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert fame.

Edmonds said she was overwhelmed by the support Library of Love had received.

“It shows the generosity of the West Australians to the arts and proves the power of the MATCH funding scheme,” she said.
