Reigan Derry lands record deal

Reigan Derry wowed the crowd in Perth when she opened Telethon at the weekend and now it appears she has sung her way to a record contract.

The WA performer made it to the top four in this year's The X Factor but was sent home just a week shy of the grand final earlier this month.

But she has not walked away empty-handed, instead joining the ranks of other alumni from the Seven show by landing a recording deal with Sony Music.

Derry yesterday announced the news via her social media channels and said she would release her first EP on December 12, with the title track All of the Pieces to hit radio airwaves on November 20.

"I am THRILLED to announce that today I begin my journey with @sonymusicaustralia and will be releasing my new EP #AllOfThePieces on Dec 12! And even more excited to announce that it's available to preorder today!" she said

And in the style of hitmakers Beyonce and Adele, it seems the singer is being marketed by her first name only, if the EP cover is anything to go by.

The deal may be the reason Derry was in Perth for a matter of hours last Saturday for Telethon - she flew into WA that morning to meet children at Princess Margaret Hospital and headed straight back to Sydney after her performance.

The 26-year-old told AAA at the time she was still hoping a recording deal would come her way.

"I am just crossing my fingers hoping a record label might pick me up and prepping," Derry said.

It was reportedly a known fact that Sony was keen to sign the songbird but the label wanted to wait until it had announced deals with the other top three finalists, winner Marlisa Punzalan, runner-up Dean Ray and third-placed Brothers 3.

Derry will perform during ARIA Week on the east coast next month to promote her single.
