Agronomy updates on the internet

GRDC procucts and services senior manager Kyle Thoms and Western Regional Panel chairman Peter Roberts highlight the new online tool GrowNote, which equips wheat growers with up-to-date relevant and comprehensive research information.

WA wheat growers now have access to an online agronomic manual that provides the latest research and extension information.

The first GrowNote for the western agricultural region was unveiled by the Grains Research and Development Corporation at last week's Agribusiness Crop Updates.

Accessible by computer, tablet or smartphone, the GrowNote can be viewed online or downloaded for later use.

It is designed to be an easy read, incorporating calculators and checklists and hundreds of links to further research information and decision tools.

GRDC Western Regional Panel chairman Peter Roberts said GrowNote reflected the GRDC's commitment to equipping growers and agronomists with up-to-date, relevant and comprehensive research.

"The new western region Wheat GrowNote provides an overview of wheat and a range of farm practice reference notes, and backs them up with trial results and best-practice recommendations, so WA growers can make more informed cropping decisions," he said.

"It follows the successful release of GrowNotes in the GRDC's northern cropping region, where crop modules are being used extensively by growers and agronomists."

Mr Roberts encouraged WA growers and agronomists to access the western region Wheat GrowNote, available at www.grdc.com.au/grownotes .

GRDC GrowNote complements specialist advisory services already offered by local agronomists and consultants.

"Importantly, the Wheat GrowNote will also help the GRDC identify gaps in industry research, providing feedback for consideration in future investment priorities," Mr Roberts said.

The GRDC intends to produce additional GrowNote modules.
