Man threatened with star-picket 'spear': police

A Wonthella man has been accused of threatening to spear another man with a star picket post.

Police said the alleged incident flared on Monday about 9.45am after an argument between the occupants of two units in Eighth Street.

Police said the man entered the backyard of the victim’s property and ran at the victim carrying a small sledge hammer.

He then allegedly picked up the star picket, holding it like a spear while making throwing motions.

Earlier, a boy allegedly kicking the front fender panels of a vehicle parked at the victim’s property, then used a rock and a piece of metal fence capping to scratch and dent the bonnet and front fender panels.

A 22-year-old Wonthella man has been charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear.

He appeared before Geraldton Magistrate’s Court yesterday, but will reappear on June 17 at Mullewa Magistrate’s Court.

A 12-year-old boy was charged with two counts of criminal damage or destruction of property and one count of disorderly behaviour.
