Von Teese to steam up Perth catwalk

It will be the sexiest night in the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival’s history when burlesque queen Dita Von Teese struts down the runway for Wheels and Dollbaby.

Von Teese will make her Australian runway debut for the acclaimed WA label at the Festival’s closing night on September 20.

Having walked for couture designers Jean Paul Gaultier and Zac Posen in Paris and New York, [|] Von Teese said she was excited to grace the Perth catwalk for the first time.

“I’ve always been a fan of the Wheels and Dollbaby brand aesthetic and I’m really looking forward to being a part of what I know will be a glamorous show,” Von Teese said.

“I have so many close friends in Perth and they are always speaking so highly of it, so I’m looking forward to spending time there.”

After Wheels and Doll8baby’s extravagant 25th anniversary show at His Majesty’s Theatre in 2011, [|which featured WA supermodel] Nicole Trunfio, designer Melanie Greensmith said she wanted to return this year with something extra special.

“I thought it would make one hell of a sexy night for Perth to have my friend Dita walk down the catwalk wearing Wheels and Dollbaby, in the place where everything started for my brand” Greensmith said.

“We’re going to bring the biggest runway party Perth has ever seen to the Festival,”

[|Friends for over a decade, Greensmith and Von Teese have previously collaborated on designs for the label including the highly-sought after Wheels and Dollbaby ‘Dita’ cardigan – an international collector’s item and a sell out piece every time it is released.]

[|Telstra Perth Fashion Festival director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan said Von Teese’s appearance would not only showcase the quality and potential of the event but could also help lift its international profile.]
