More room for hospital families
Sick WA children and their families are one step closer to having a bigger and better home away from home in Perth.
Construction has ended on the top floor of the new $27m Ronald McDonald House alongside the Perth Children's Hospital in Nedlands.
Ronald McDonald House provides free accommodation to regional families having to travel to Perth for specialist medical treatment for a child.
Scheduled to open in November, the four- storey Doric-built facility will take up to 1000 families each year, compared with 375 at the current Subiaco premises.
There will be 47 rooms ranging from 24sqm to 35sqm - more than double the number and dimensions of the existing rooms. The top three floors will have two accommodation wings, separated by connecting bridges which house a learning centre, gym and rooftop garden.
