Computer search leads to child sex charges

A 50-year-old man is facing dozens of child sex offence charges after a police probe of his electronic devices.

Police charged the man after an analysis of electronic and data storage devices seized during a search of his Balga home on January 5.

The man has been charged with 54 counts of indecently recording a child, three counts of sexual penetration of a child and 10 counts of indecent dealing with a child.

All the charges relate to children aged under 13 years old and allegedly involved offences between January 2012 and January this year.

The man is due to appear in court today.

Police have urged anyone with information relating to child abuse of exploitation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
