Harvest brings above average yield
Harvest has finished in the Albany Port Zone with Cranbrook being the highest receival point in country WA.
The CBH Cranbrook collection site collected 384,000 tonnes of grain when it stopped receiving last Friday.
At the end of last year's record- breaking harvest, Cranbrook received 394,325 tonnes.
Albany Port Zone manager Greg Thornton said this year's harvest was above average which was good news for growers in the region.
"It's a reflection that the growers have had a good season in that area, which follows up on a record- breaking season last year," he said.
Cranbrook farmer Laurie Fiegert said he was pleased with the result of this year's harvest.
"We're very happy with the season, the weather was kind to us, there weren't any bad thunderstorms to damage the grain," he said.
Broomehill broke a site record, receiving 172,000 tonnes compared to 160,496 at the end of last year's harvest.
The Albany Port zone received a total 3.4 million tonnes in the 2013-14 season.
Some 498,000 tonnes of canola, 1.1 million tonnes of barley, 1.75 million tonnes of wheat were collected, the remainder being oats, lupins and field peas.
Mr Thornton said it would take the rest of the year to complete shipping, in time for the 2015-16 harvest.
The bulk of the wheat exported by CBH goes to Indonesia and barley is sent to China.
