Fire snuffs out massages

The operators of a massage business in Malaga destroyed by a suspicious fire yesterday say they are devastated.

Police were alerted to an alarm at the Life Tree Massage Centre on Capital Road about 3.25am.

Officers from Midland arrived to find the building on fire.

Fire crews from Malaga, Wangara, Kiara and Ellenbrook were called and spent about half an hour bringing the blaze under control.

Damage to the building was estimated to be up to $250,000.

The area was cordoned off and put under police guard until arson and forensic officers arrived.

An initial assessment suggested that the fire may have been lit deliberately.

A petrol can was among items investigators found.

In a Facebook message to their customers, the Life Tree Massage Centre said it would be closed until further notice because of a "terrible incident".

"The Life Tree team are all so devastated from this incident and I am sure most of you are too," the post said.

There was no one in the building at the time of the fire.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious near the building is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
