Arrest for falling-down dunk

A 20-year-old man allegedly running from police was arrested after a foot chase and a dunking in Bentley last night.

Police were called to the rear car park of a pharmacy at the corner of Chapman Road and Victoria Street in relation to two men allegedly acting suspiciously next to a vehicle.

The spokesman alleged that while the officers were speaking to the two men, one of them attempted to run from the scene.

"He jumped over a nearby fence, however there was a swimming pool on the other side of the fence and he landed on the pool cover, which subsequently tore, resulting in the offender falling into the water," the spokesman said.

Police allege he jumped out of the pool and over another fence and went behind a car, where he was arrested.

It will be alleged the man was in possession of Methylamphetamine and $1,250 cash at the time.

A police spokesman said officers from the South East Metropolitan – Northern Response Team officers have charged a 20-year-old man from Camillo with Hinder Police, Trespass, Possess a Prohibited Drug with Intent to Sell or Supply and Possession of Stolen or Unlawfully Obtained Property.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Northbridge Magistrates Court today.
