Man allegedly showed knife before stealing drink

A man allegedly brandished a knife at a Karratha video store before taking a drink from the fridge and leaving.

A police spokesman said a man entered the store on Balmoral Road at 8.40pm and asked to buy a movie.

"Upon being advised the movie was available for hire, and not sale, it will be alleged the man brandished a knife," the police spokesman said.

"The staff member retreated to the rear of the store and the man left the store after taking a drink from a fridge."

A 29-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Karratha Magistrates Court today.
