Man halts robber with kitchen knife

An elderly man used a kitchen knife to fend off three teenagers who were trying to rob him in Albany at the weekend.

Albany detectives have charged a 15-year-old from Collingwood Park after the incident on Saturday.

Police say about 9.30pm the accused and two others males allegedly threatened a 65-year-old man with a knife and a replica firearm at a unit complex on Angove Street.

They allegedly demanded cash but the victim managed to stop them with a kitchen knife. The man caused minor injuries to the accused.

The teenager was charged with attempted aggravated armed robbery.

He will appear in the Albany Children's Court today.
