Surreal video shows alligator ringing woman's doorbell

An alligator was caught on camera apparently trying to ring the doorbell of a woman’s home.

Karen Alfano was surprised to find the two-metre-long reptile on her doorstep and appearing to ring the bell.

She got out her mobile phone to record the gator’s strange antics before she used it to call authorities to come and remove the uninvited visitor.

Ms Alfano described the encounter, outside her home in Myrtle Beach at South Carolina, as “the coolest thing that could ever possibly happen to anyone”, according to ABC News in the US.

Her neighbours didn’t necessarily agree, with many reportedly frightened by the alligator poking about in their neighbourhood.

The reptile reportedly damaged some ornaments at the walkway of the woman’s home, and left some scratches on the house.

Wildlife officials also removed a three-metre alligator from a home about 1.6km away from Ms Alfano’s place, ABC reported.

Last week a black cat was caught on video perched against the front door of a home, using a door knocker like a pro.
