Survivor fans slam 'hero' after she's revealed as trophy hunter: 'Disgusting'

Fans of Australian Survivor have taken to social media to share their outrage after finding out Paige Donald, a member of the 'heroes' tribe, is a trophy hunter. Paige has hit out at the critics on her Instagram Stories, telling them to get back "in their f**king place".

It comes after outspoken animal activist and fellow Survivor contestant Rogue Rubin pointed out that Paige is a trophy hunter on her Instagram account. Paige has countless photos of herself hunting various animals, including wild pigs, kangaroos, and dingoes, as well as warthogs and antelope, while in Africa.

"No HERO kills for pleasure," Rogue said of Paige on her Instagram Story.

Many people have since taken to Paige's Instagram account to leave comments on her posts, with one user writing: "This doesn’t look like hero behaviour to me. How absolutely disgusting."

"Despicable that you think deliberately inflicting pain, distress and despair on another being is OK!" another said.

"Trophy hunting is grotesque regardless of whether you’re culling an introduced pest or a beautiful animal in a game reserve," a third added.

"God that’s so messed up. There’s literally a dead animal bleeding out onto you," another user wrote.

"Not Farmer Paige being a proud hunter, posting pictures of her fresh bloody kills of boars on her socials," one Twitter user wrote. "No wonder @Survivor_AU hasn’t tagged her account in any of their posts. Can someone explain why she’s on the heroes tribe?"

"Paige kills animals for fun. She's no hero and I can't wait for her to be voted off," another added.

Paige hits back at Survivor fans

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Paige hit out at Rogue and said she wanted to "put people in their f***ing place".

"Yes, I hunt. I live in a world with animals that are sick and need to be shot,” she said. "I get rewarded with a bounty for each dingo that I get... You’re lucky I have a thick skin. The amount of death threats and disgusting messages I’ve gotten all over my social media is disgusting."

Speaking of her trip to Africa almost ten years ago, Paige said, "You can be damn sure I'll be going back one day."

"The money you spend on the animal you’re shooting goes back into the animal and keeping them safe," the reality star added. "There’s so much to it that you don’t know."

She continued, saying she also previously worked as a veterinary nurse and loves saving lives.

Rogue said during her short time on the show that she felt as though there were only two people in the heroes tribe that should be considered heroes – a lifesaver and a rescue pilot. She then requested to be voted out, saying she didn't fit in with the group and wanted to leave.

Paige has shared several videos of herself and packs of dogs that help her hunt pigs, with the RSPCA sharing that this poses "significant welfare risks" to both the dogs and the pigs.

"Regardless of whether dogs hold pigs or not, hunting of pigs with dogs is inherently cruel and unnecessary. Chased pigs will experience fear, panic and distress, and for those that are killed by sticking, death will be painful and prolonged (compared with those that are shot)."

"Although pig hunters vehemently defend their sport and would like the public to believe that their dogs do not maul or attack pigs and their dogs do not get injured (they claim that the protective chest plates and collars prevent this), there is plenty of video, photographic and direct evidence that reveals the true nature of pig hunting," they add.
