Second teenager charged following Melbourne apartment death
A second teenager has been charged following the death of a 19-year-old girl in a Melbourne CBD apartment on Saturday.
A 16-year-old Truganina boy was charged with being an accessory to murder and assault, Victoria Police confirmed on Wednesday evening.
Police were called to the A’Beckett Street short-stay apartment at approximately 5.15am on July 21, following reports a woman had suffered serious injuries.
Paramedics attended, but Pakenham teenager Laa Chol, 19, could not be saved.
She was reportedly stabbed at a party she attended on the 56th floor of the EQ Tower.
Police believe her death occurred amid a dispute involving two groups of party-goers, including one that hired the short-term stay unit and another that arrived later.
A 17-year-old Sunshine North boy was charged on Monday with one count of murder after a three-day manhunt, and remanded in custody until the case returns to court on August 14.
The 16-year-old has been remanded to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
