The Minister responsible, John Rau, was only notified of the claims on Monday after inquires by 7 News.

He said he was extremely concerned and wanted to know whether family members of the deceased had been advised and whether the images had been recovered or destroyed.

Mr Rau said the allegations must be distressing for the families involved.
