Residents baffled by confusing parking signs

Confusing parking signs have left residents scratching their heads, with motorists unsure whether they are able to park for two or three hours.

A picture sent to Yahoo7 shows one sign suggests it’s a two-hour parking zone, but another sign right above it advising of a three-hour parking area.

The signs were spotted at Paradise Island on the Gold Coast, and local Tim Ellis told the Gold Coast Bulletin the two-hour parking sign had always been there but the three-hour sign popped up around the time of the Commonwealth Games.

“There’s a lot of different signage in the area, but all of a sudden they’ve put this three-hour parking sign there,” he said.

The man who sent the photo, who wished to remain anonymous, said he had contacted the Gold Coast Council for answers about which sign was right, but had not received a reply.

RACQ told the Gold Coast Bulletin it was a three-hour parking area, meaning a three-hour time limit applied everywhere there wasn’t another sign.

Gold Coast Council has been contacted for comment.
