Queenslanders' unconventional ways of preparing for Cyclone Debbie

Queensland residents are proving they aren't afraid of Cyclone Debbie, posting their humorous photos on social media as the storm approaches.

While it would be a scary time for many, some have seen the funny side, sharing the somewhat unconventional ways they're preparing for the incoming storm.

Posts include a baked cake that reads "Be Nice Debbie", a man who was thankful to Debbie for the day off, and someone who considers four packets of Tim Tam biscuits as "essentials".

In a sign of possible madness, a kite surfer was captured taking full advantage of the wild weather as he cruised the waves.

One cafe in Ayr is even using the storm in its marketing campaign with signs out the front that read “Category 5 Counter Meals” that will “blow you away”.

Bowen resident, builder Graham Wilson, also used his front fence to paint a message directed at the oncoming Tropical Cyclone.
