Prince Harry concerned wife Meghan Markle is 'just like Diana'

Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went public with their relationship, it has been a whirlwind ride for the both of them, particularly the former Suits actress.

In the space of 18 months, the 37-year-old has moved countries, given up her acting career, married into the royal family, become pregnant with her first child and embarked upon her first gruelling royal tour – just to name a few changes.

Reports recently emerged claiming the Duchess of Sussex is feeling “stressed” and “miserable” in her new role, and is struggling to cope with the public scrutiny she has faced.

The Duke of Sussex is reportedly concerned his pregnant wife is suffering in the same way his late mother, Princess Diana, did when she first married into the establishment.

According to commentator Angela Mollard, who appeared on The Morning Show on Tuesday, Meghan may be having “feelings of misery” due to all the changes in her life, and Harry is feeling “very guilty” about it all.

“This comes at a time when she’s made massive changes in her life – she’s moved countries, she’s given up her job, she’s now pregnant, she doesn’t have her friends around her, she’s got massive unrest within her family,” Angela explained.

“There’s so many stress factors it wouldn’t be surprising if she had feelings of misery,” she continued. “Harry apparently feels very guilty about the fact – really, it’s becoming a repeat of what his mum suffered.”

Since Harry wasn’t able to help his mother when she was up against mass public scrutiny, Angela claims the 34-year-old is “very protective” of Meghan.

“He couldn’t protect his mum and we know from the early days if the relationship when he made the unprecedented statement ‘please, leave her alone,’ – he’s very protective of her,” the commentator explained.

Harry set that protective precedent from the start of their relationship, when he released a statement in November 2016, asking for his future wife’s privacy to be respected.

“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” the statement read.

“It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.

“He knows commentators will say this is ‘the price she has to pay’ and that ‘this is all part of the game’. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game – it is her life and his.”
