Powerball: $60m winner reveals surprising spending plan
The recent retiree immediately knew where some of her winnings would be going.
The Aussie woman who won the $60 million Powerball jackpot on Thursday has revealed how she plans to spend it - and it's not what most people think of.
The recent retiree told The Lott during the winning phone call that her main goal would be to "help a lot of people out".
"I think a lot of charities might benefit – especially those that help disadvantaged children," she said.
The generous woman from Daylesford Victoria surprised Lotto officials by immediately pledging to help others with her good fortune, instead of basking in disbelief and shock at the news.
The lucky woman was the sole entrant to match all the balls, making her the second biggest lottery winner in 2023. She said she had chosen numbers that had meaning to her, including family and friend' birthdays.

Powerball winner initially hung up on officials
The husband of the woman who scooped the $60 million jackpot in Thursday's Powerball draw accidentally hung up on officials amid the jubilant scenes inside their home.
“My husband is walking around dumbfounded. He accidentally hung up on you in a frenzy," she told The Lott on Thursday evening.
The couple, from Daylesford in regional Victoria, had already checked their tickets for the draw, and were aware they had landed a Division One prize.
